A veteran journalist and lifelong champion of decency, dignity, and democracy—ready to fight for Southwest Florida.
David Silverberg is a veteran journalist who has spent his career standing for decency, dignity, and democracy. A permanent Florida resident since 2013, he is deeply rooted in the communities of Southwest Florida—from Naples and Marco Island to Immokalee, LaBelle, and Clewiston.
Beginning in 2018, David began writing as The Paradise Progressive, giving Southwest Floridians the political news, analysis, and commentary that local media wouldn't touch. His blog has become an essential voice for the region's progressive community.
Before moving to Florida, David served as Founding Editor of Homeland Security Today—the leading publication providing insight to homeland security decision-makers in Washington, D.C. He is the author of Congress for Dummies (2002) and Masters of Disaster (2010).
A seasoned communicator with deep knowledge of government, policy, and public affairs, David is ready to bring a journalist's integrity and a fighter's determination to the Florida Senate.
Southwest Florida deserves a senator who will fight the real battles—for affordable living, clean water, quality schools, and a government that respects its people.
End profiteering, price gouging, and scams. Get insurance rates under control so Florida families can afford to live and stay here.
Replace denial and delusion with real planning and preparation. Southwest Florida's future depends on confronting the facts honestly.
No oil exploitation in the Gulf of Mexico or the Everglades. Our water is our lifeblood—it is not for sale.
Stop the assault on science. Protect our children from preventable diseases and epidemics. Trust in medicine, not politics.
Stop diverting public school dollars to charter and parochial schools. Respect and reward the teachers who shape our children's futures. End book bans—ignorance is not strength.
End Tallahassee's preemption of local land management, governance, and autonomy. Our communities know what's best for our communities.
Conserve the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Restore decency, dignity, and democracy for every person in Southwest Florida.
Stop using Florida's colleges and universities as feeding troughs for greedy politicians. Higher education must serve students, not political ambitions.
Get ICE out of our communities. Support disciplined, professional policing that protects everyone—regardless of where they were born.
The Collier County immigration detention facility—nicknamed "Alligator Alcatraz"—is a stain on the conscience of Southwest Florida. People are being held in inhumane conditions without due process, without dignity, and without the basic respect that every human being deserves.
David Silverberg has been one of the loudest voices calling for this facility to be shut down. As your State Senator, he will use every tool available to end this outrage and restore Southwest Florida's reputation as a place of decency and dignity for all.
